Hakuba is a Mecca for hiking in Japan. If you have ever wished to trek the Northern Japanese Alps, Hakuba is a fantastic place to do so, with a variety of half day and full day hikes. Ride the gondola to take in panoramic views of Japan’s Northern Alps, the Hakuba Valley and the quaint township of Hakuba. At the summit venture forth or simply soak up the endless mountain vistas from on top of the world.

There are more relaxing Nature Walks such as the natural Hime River Spring or the Water wheel and Oshida Suspension Bridge. On all treks you will observe colourful Japanese wildflowers of the season as well as native animals and birds.

Onsens, Massage & Art Galleries

If an adventure holiday is not for you, there are many relaxing things to do. Art galleries and craft shops are scattered throughout the town,  Every café and restaurant has their own unique character and diverse flavours , they are all worth a try. Treat your muscles to a relaxing massage or visit one of the many onsens within walking distance from the Bears Den. At the end of a fun day our outdoor Hot Tub is for your use. A glass of wine on the balcony taking in mountain views and the peaceful surrounds will have you wanting to stay for another day or two.
